Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD:TSX; LGDTF:OTCQB) announced in a news release that additional results from the third high-grade oxide gold discovery, or D-3 zone, at its Black Pine project in Idaho showed more multiple thick intervals of oxide gold mineralization.
"The new D-3 zone continues to take shape as additional holes are added to it," the release noted.
For instance, hole LBP169 returned 0.98 grams per ton gold (0.98 g/t Au) over 80.8 meters (80.8m), including 2.32 g/t Au over 18.3m and an additional 2.19 g/t Au over 7.6m. As such, it further confirmed D-3's potential to host thick intervals of gold with grades of 1 g/t or higher, the company stated. Cyanide-soluble assays for LBP169's highlight interval returned a weighted average of 88%, demonstrating the gold mineralization it encountered is oxidized.
The vertical extent of the mineralization in the newly reported holes is from surface to about 300m.
From all of the data Liberty Gold has for D-3, it believes it is hosted in an "east-dipping, sheared, calcareous siltstone horizon, stratigraphically beneath and structurally adjacent to the unit that hosts the D-1 and D-2 zones," the release explained. "It rises to near the surface in the west and extends an unknown distance under the historic B pit to the east."
The British Columbia-based explorer continues to drill at the Black Pine property, with three reverse circulation rigs and one core rig. Two rigs are currently dedicated to infill and stepout drilling in D-3.
"With three RC drills and one core drill currently operating, we are on track to meet our goal of giving the identified gold system a comprehensive test in 2020, while building resource ounces at the same time," President and CEO Cal Everett said in the release. "It is nice to see our goals being met, and even better that we are finding gold nearly everywhere that we look."
