Dolly Varden Silver Corp. (DV:TSX.V; DOLLF:OTCMKTS) commenced a 10,000 meter drill program at its flagship Dolly Varden property in northwestern British Columbia, it announced in a news release.
"Multiple silver-rich mineralizing systems, deposits and past producing mines present many target options for exploration at Dolly Varden," President and CEO Shawn Khunkhun said in the release. "Our priority is the discovery of more high-grade silver mineralization."
The Vancouver-based explorer intends to carry out 80% of the drilling in new targets and 20% in high priority areas for potential resource expansion. Initially, it will focus on stepout drilling at the past producing Torbrit mine, the area of the existing current resource. From there, a 4,500-plus meters silver-bearing alteration belt extends to the north.
At the same time, Dolly Varden continues other exploration work. The geology team is continuing with structural mapping and analyses to guide the drill. It is also continuing to sample soil in the western portion of the property to help delineate new gold targets for drilling in late summer.
"We are currently testing for extensions to the mineral resource which has been untouched by historic mining and then will be concentrating on further defining higher grade pockets of silver mineralization," Chief Geologist Rob van Egmond explained.
